Secondary School
The history of our school is one that has undergone several metamorphosis. Thus, the birth of Our School began in 1956 with the establishment of Preliminary Training Centre. It was a Catholic institute established by Rev.Fr.L.Horkin for the training of the would be teachers who would teach others. This centred produced people like Professor Muoghalu, Ichie P.O. Ibe and so on who are renowned schools of our time. Later in 1976, the school metamorphosed into Girls Secondary School Unubi via the effort of Fr Mike Ezeabasili after the Civil war. The first Principal of the school was Mrs Maria Therese Izundu. Later on, the emergence of co-education brought about the need for a change in the school to accommodate the boys. Hence, it was during the P.T.A meeting hold on 31/12/2006, the parents unanimously chose the name PREMIER SECONDARY SCHOOL UNUBI. This name’ ’PREMIER ‘’ was chosen to remark that it remains the first secondary educational institute to have been started in Unubi town. The name was approved by the Anambra State Ministry of Education- Ref MOE/SCHD/1267 of July 2007. The school was at last baptised’ with a new name to reflect what it stands for as the mission school. Thus on 5th June, 2015, the school received the approval for the change of school from Premier Secondary School Unubi to ST JOHN BOSCO SECONDARY SCHOOL UNUBI. That is to say that the current, authentic and approved name of school is ST JOHN BOSCO SECONDARY SCHOOL UNUBI.
